In El Salvador armed men broke into the offices of the Probusqueda Association for Missing Children, a nonprofit agency that works to locate children missing from the country’s civil war, and set fire to the group's archives. Probusqueda said earlier this year that it had documented at least a dozen cases of children stolen by members the military during the 1980-92 war between the Salvadoran government and leftist guerrillas.

A video posted on the Internet showed two members of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) holding up a bearded man's head before a crowd in Aleppo in northern Syria. ISIL later admitted the rebel had been killed by mistake and said it had arrested one of its men, a Tunisian, for decapitating him.

A Uganda government tribunal declared Erias Lukwago, the lord mayor of Kampala, guilty of abuse of office, incompetence and misconduct. He faced being kicked out office. Lukwago is a political opponent of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, who has controlled Uganda since 1986, and the mayor linked the president to his conviction.

Indian news reported that police have arrested Ramesh Mahawar, the director of Mahawar Pharma Pvt Ltd. The firm allegedly supplied medication to women in a mass sterilization that left 13 dead. Mahawar’s son was also arrested. A senior official said the deaths may have been caused by antibiotic pills contaminated with rat poison.
