Carl Reiner (98), a driving force in American comedy, died at his home in Beverly Hills. He was a writer for television pioneer Sid Caesar, partner of Mel Brooks and creator and co-star of the classic sitcom "The Dick Van Dyke Show" (1961).

British comedian Joe Lycett allegedly shredded 10,000 pounds ($11,900) in bank notes after giving the former England soccer captain David Beckham an ultimatum to pull out of his role as an ambassador for Qatar at the World Cup. Lycett said last week he would donate the money to charity if Beckham agreed to cut ties with the World Cup host or he would shred the money before the tournament began. The next day Lycett said he faked the stunt and that money has instead been donated to a LGBTQ+ charity.
