In Peru the leaders of Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru agreed to launch the Pacific Alliance in the declaration of Lima.

Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru formally established their Pacific Alliance (Alianza de Pacifico). The goal was free trade and economic integration with a clear orientation toward Asia.

Pacific Alliance members (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela) eliminated tariffs on 92% of their trade with each other and planned to phase out the rest over 17 years.
