The East African Community (EAC), founded in 1967, was resurrected following its collapse in 1977. The regional club included six members: Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. A coalition of East African citizen groups announced they were suing Uganda and Rwanda in the East African Court of Justice for financial losses resulting from a border dispute between the feuding nations.
