| In 2002 about 60 percent of Ecuador's 12 million people lived in cities. Sixty percent of Ecuadorians are mixed-race, 30 percent are Indian, 3 percent are black and 7 percent are of European or other descent. More than 60 percent of the population lives in poverty. Ninety-five percent are Roman Catholic. |
