US attorney Roy M. Cohn died at Bethesda Naval Hospital of cardiac arrest and complications from AIDS. He was an American lawyer best known for being Senator Joseph McCarthy's chief counsel during the Army–McCarthy hearings in 1954, for assisting with McCarthy's investigations of suspected communists, as a top political fixer, and for being Donald Trump's personal lawyer.

Felix Sater started pushing a Trump tower project in Moscow. Sater was later accused by BTA Bank of Kazakhstan and the city of Almaty that he had conspired with the son of a former mayor to use some of $440 million stolen from the bank to develop a Trump tower in Moscow. Sater tried to kick start the project during Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, but it was never built.

The New York Observer, a newspaper owned by Jared Kushner, a son-in-law, of Donald Trump, ran a lengthy hatchet job on Eric Schneiderman, the Democratic attorney general of New York. In 2013 Schneiderman had sued Donald Trump over the fleecing of students at Trump University.

He had recently named Papadopoulos to his foreign policy advisory council, among a short list of experts amid growing public pressure on Trump to demonstrate he had a bench of foreign policy expertise. In 2017 Papadopoulos admitted that he told Trump and other top campaign national security officials during an advisory council meeting, that he had made contact with intermediaries for Russia who said they could set up a meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

This was made public in 2018 by former presidential advisor George Papadopoulos.
